FURAN PLUS
EIHO Furan Plus: The Reliable Shield for Bacterial & Fungal Recovery
EIHO Furan Plus is a highly effective, professional-grade treatment designed to combat a wide range of external and systemic infections in both freshwater and marine environments. Formulated with Nitrofurazone as its active agent, it targets both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, providing a rapid response to aggressive pathogens that can otherwise devastate a colony.
Whether you are managing a freshwater community tank, this formula is a go-to for treating cloudy eyes, body slime, and fungal growths. It is specifically engineered to be fast-acting, helping your fish recover from physical trauma such as open wounds, red sores, or ulcers, while also halting the progression of fin, skin, and gill rot.
Why You Need This
If you've ever noticed your fish looking "off"—perhaps they're shimmying, have a milky haze over their eyes, or show red streaks on their bodies—you’re likely dealing with a bacterial outbreak. Here is how Furan Plus helps you get things back under control:
-
Stops Rot in its Tracks: Quickly halts the degradation of fins and tails caused by bacteria like columnaris
-
Heals Physical Trauma: If your fish have been nipping at each other or scraped themselves on decor, this prevents those wounds from turning into deadly ulcers.
-
Clears Cloudy Eyes: Addresses the internal pressure and bacterial film that causes eye cloudiness, restoring clear vision and reducing stress.
-
Treats Hemorrhagic Septicemia: Penetrates the system to treat internal bleeding and red streaks caused by blood poisoning.
-
Manages Mild Dropsy: Helps reduce swelling and "pine-coning" if caught in the early stages by reducing the bacterial load on the kidneys.
Expert Instructions ("The Easy Way")
Treating your tank shouldn't feel like a chemistry experiment. Follow these simple steps to ensure the best recovery for your aquatic friends:
-
Prep your tank: Before starting, perform a 25% water change. This lowers the organic load and helps the medication work more effectively.
-
Clear the way: Remove any activated carbon or chemical resins (like Purigen) from your filter, as these will "eat" the medication before it can help your fish.
-
Add the juice: On Day 1, add the required dose based on your tank volume.
-
The Schedule: To ensure the bacteria are fully eliminated, repeat the dose on Day 3 and Day 5.
-
Observation: Keep the treatment going for a full 5-7 days. Even if the fish look better by Day 2, finishing the cycle prevents the bacteria from coming back stronger.
Expert Tip: While Furan Plus is very safe, Nitrofurazone can impact the nitrifying bacteria (Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter) in the aquarium. If you're treating in your main display, keep a close eye on your NH3 (Ammonia) levels and be ready with a bottle of beneficial bacteria to give your bio-filter a boost if needed!
FAQ
Is EIHO Furan Plus safe for shrimp and snails?
Furan Plus is generally tolerated well by most shrimps at the standard dosage, but as with all medications, I recommend caution. If you have very sensitive ornamental shrimp, it is always a "pro move" to treat your sick fish in a separate hospital tank to keep your main shrimp colony 100% safe.
Will this medication change my water color?
Yes, you’ll notice a slight yellow tint to the water after adding the powder. Don’t worry—this is just the Nitrofurazone doing its job. The color will disappear naturally once you perform your post-treatment water changes and put your activated carbon back in.
Can I use Furan Plus in a planted aquarium?
As it is a very strong anti-bacteria agent, it will wipe out the beneficial bacteria, We will not advise to be use in planted aquarium as the beneficial bacteria in the soil will be greatly affected.
How long does it take to see results?
You should start seeing an improvement in activity levels and a reduction in redness within 24 to 48 hours. However, external issues like fin rot take a bit longer to physically "grow back," so be patient with the healing process.
Do I need to turn off my UV sterilizer?
Absolutely. UV light can break down the chemical structure of Nitrofurazone, making it much less effective. Flip the switch off for the duration of the treatment.
